Does your family like to visit Old Baldy multiple times in the year? The Old Baldy Foundation is thrilled to present a brand new Annual Pass Program! This program offers yearly access at varying levels to The Old Baldy Lighthouse and Smith Island Museum of History. Each pass holder receives exclusive access to Old Baldy while supporting the Old Baldy Foundation’s mission of preservation and educational outreach.

Civil War Walking Tour

Bald Head Island Civil War Walking Tour -  BOOK NOW 


11 AM- 12 PM

$15/Adults, $6/Youth; Age 3 and Under Free

The Bald Head Island Civil War Walking Tour is a one-hour, 0.5 mile-long, hike through the remains of Fort Holmes, a Confederate fortification constructed on Bald Head Island from 1863 - 1865. Your trained guide will discuss Bald Head Island and Wilmington's role in the American Civil War while sharing artifacts from the Old Baldy Foundation's collections. Themes include blockade running, the life of a soldier, the enslaved peoples' experience, and battles in the Lower Cape Fear. Reservations are required, space is limited. Directions for Off-Island Tour Participants: You must depart Deep Point Marina (mainland ferry terminal) on the 10am ferry to Bald Head Island. There are no reservations for the Bald Head Island Ferry. Please purchase your ferry ticket upon arrival at Deep Point Marina. Once you arrive on Bald Head Island, take a brief walk to Old Baldy Lighthouse. The tour will begin and conclude at the Old Baldy Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage. 

Directions for On-Island Tour Participants: Please meet your tour guide at the Old Baldy Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage at 10:45am.
